Frequently Asked Questions
What is companioning?
Companioning is about walking side by side with a person, not as an expert or leader. It is about recognizing each person will grieve in their own unique way. Companioning is about honoring the human spirit; listening with the heart and not analyzing or fixing a person, but being present with them as they navigate their personal journey of grief towards hope and healing.
"Piglet sidles up to Pooh from behind. 'Pooh,' he whispered. 'Yes, Piglet?' 'Nothing,' said Piglet. 'I just wanted to be sure of you.' " A. A. Milne
When is grief counseling or life coaching not appropriate?
Grief will soften over time and clinical depression does not. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: prolonged sadness/and or depression, a feeling of hopelessness which cannot be alleviated, or suicidal thoughts it is important to seek treatment from a licensed therapist which specializes in clinical depression. We can help you with a referral.
How do I get started?
To get started you call to set up a consultation to discuss which program will work best for you based on your current situation and needs.
How often do we meet?
Depending on which program you choose will determine how often we will meet. If you select the grief counseling program we can meet as often or as little as you need. Once you feel you are ready to take the next step towards reconciliation of your new normal you can select the life coaching program. Although you can schedule individual appointments, coaching is about renewal and change and for optimum results it is recommended to meet once a week for 3-6 months.
Is my information kept confidential?
It is important to create a safe haven for the sharing of stories so all information shared is kept strictly confidential.
How much does it cost?
Depending on which program you choose and how long will determine fees. This will be determined and discussed during the consultation.
